These *ALMOST* Make Me Want To Cook

I have been making it a priority to document all the little details of our family, whether it be working on home movies, taking daily photos, or compiling our favorite recipes. I hope to one day have enough to print a Shutterfly album. For now, I am going to resize them to 6×6 and put them in a little album in the kitchen.

    A Few Video Clips

I had grand plans for a post recapping our summer activities thus far, and I still intend to do that, but for now, here are some home movies from the last few weeks.

We bought Zoë a one month membership to "Little Ninjas" at her school auction this year. We thought that it would be something fun for her to do once school got out, and she did enjoy it at first, but in the end she decided not to continue. Still, we will always have the video, which still makes me giggle every time I watch it.

We had lots of company for the 4th this year. Dad and Victoria came up from California and Ryan came down from Bellingham with Harry and Charlee. And fireworks. Here is the grand finale. I thought for sure we were going to be arrested (fireworks are illegal in our county) but we managed to stay under the radar. icon wink A Few Video Clips

    A Little Shindig

On Saturday we held our First Annual White Trash Party. It was so much fun. Like Halloween, but better! I have been preparing for weeks, scouring Goodwill and Value Village for the tackiest and trashiest things I could find. I took Zoë on only one such expedition since she had the tendency to shout "MOMMY! YOU SHOULD BUY THIS! IT'S REALLY TACKY!" in the store. I've got to say, the searching was definitely worth it. Would you like to see our outfits?

     A Little Shindig

You like? The tank top that Eden is wearing was Kelly's when he was a baby. That paired with a diaper was the perfect W.T. baby outfit. Hehehe.

It wasn't just Kelly, Eden and I that were all decked out. The house matched our attire. The silk curtains were replaced with shower curtains, short curtains that didn't fit the windows, lovely valances and NASCAR fabric. The furniture was draped with afghans. The lamp shades were removed. The artworks was replaced with posters, and Becky made lovely silk flower arrangements in condiment containers. Oh, and did I mention the poinsettia on the front porch next to the orange chair?

We dined on an assortment of chips (including pork rines) dips, pizza rolls, mini corn dogs, fish sticks, tater tots, potato salad and fruit salad (with marshmallows). We washed all of that deliciousness with Raineer beer, wine coolers and Grape Sminoff Ice, which I am slightly ashamed to say, isn't half bad!

After spending a few hours in the front yard waiting for her friends (that never showed up….GRRRRRR) Zoë joined us for some Guitar Hero and frozen Twinkie. All in all, it was a good party. One we will be repeating every summer.

Edited to add: Click on the "First Annual White Trash Party" link above to see more pictures. I will be adding the decor pictures tomorrow, but you'll get the idea from the other photos. Hehehe.

And, I forgot to share the funniest story of the day! Eden woke up from her nap after the party had started. I brought her outside and she took one look at Kelly and almost burst into tears. She snuggled up in my arms and kept peeking at him and his crazy mullet. Then she saw Becky with her big hair and outfit, looked at Kelly, looked back at Becky, then looked at me like, "What the hell is going on?! I've got to be dreaming. WHAT IS GOING ON!?!?!?!" It was hillarious. Apparently my huge hair and bright pink lipstick didn't phase her because she didn't bat an eye at me. LOL!

Summer Time Fun = No Blogging

I didn't quite realize how long it had been since I last blogged until I got an email from one of my favorite aunts asking if I was OK. (I love her!) Everyone is fine, we have just been enjoying this wonderful summer weather, and oddly enough we got busier once summer vacation started. I will post more about that later once I get my photos edited. (You know I don't like posting without photos.) For now, I wanted to share a few layouts that I made last week. My friend Emily came over for a visit with her two darling little girls. Ashlynn and Zoë play together amazingly well and kept each other entertained for three days while we scrapped. It was awesome.

    Eden at 10 Months

     Eden at 10 Months

Do you like the picture? I tried for almost half an hour to get a photo of Eden sitting still and that girl would not stop moving. That is pretty much par these days. Eden crawls at warp speed. She is all over the place. So much so that she gets rug burns on her little knees. Awwwww. Eden is pulling herself up on everything and cruising around. She is also getting very good at standing unassisted. She is going to be walking in no time. Not only does she want to keep up with Zoë, but she is getting extremely frustrated not being able to bring things with her when she crawls around. LOL!

    Routine:
    Eden
has started the unfortunate habit of waking up around 7:30am. Why is that unfortunate? Eden naps about two hours after she wakes, which means 9:30-10:00am nap. Then she wakes up around the time Zoë goes down for her nap, then goes back down when Zoë wakes up. Not the greatest schedule, but it is what it is. She still goes to bed around 6pm and wakes once a night for a bottle and clean diaper.

    Eating:
We have added pureed broccoli and spinach to Eden's repertoire with no problems. It gets mixed into her chicken soup puree (thanks Mom!) and she doesn't mind a bit. Eden also really enjoys cold cantaloupe and strawberries in her mesh feeder, especially when her teeth are bothering her. And lets not forget frozen pancakes. Eden seems to have followed in Zoë's foot steps and loves frozen pancakes (also good on teething gum).

    Clothing:
I will update this post tomorrow after I weigh Eden, but she is still fitting nicely into her 6-9 month clothes so I am guessing she is 17-18lbs.

Update: Eden is weighing in at 19.8 lbs. Whoo Hoo!

    Other Tidbits:
Eden now does a double wave and claps her hands, especially when she is happy. And, if you sing "If You're Happy and You Know It, Clap Your Hands" she claps! (She's a genius).

We moved Eden into a big girl car seat and I think she may be backwards facing until she is two. LOL! She hates being in the car and cries after about five minutes. Ugh. I am trying to take her on more errands so that she gets used to it, otherwise our drive to Spokane next month is going to be verrrrrry long.

Eden's favorite toy is by far the baby Zoë gave her the day she was born. She brings that baby everywhere with her. In fact, while I'm thinking about it, do you have any suggestions for washing a stuffed animal? Baby has gone through the washer once, but I am afraid her stuffing is going to get all lumpy if we keep laundering it.

I'm trying to figure out something new to do with Eden's hair. She pulls bows out of her hair and chews on them, she won't wear a hat anymore, and yesterday, she pulled a rubberband out of her hair and ate it. Lovely. (Poison Control told me that as long as she didn't choke and was able to eat and drink, the rubberband should makes its way out in a few days…if you know what I mean).

We had to put outlet covers in all around the house this month because Eden is now fascinated with them. She likes to stick her fingers in the holes, pull things out of the outlets, chew on cords. Basically all the things that are going to give her mommy grey hair. Oh, and did I mention that she also knows how to speed crawl up stairs? Yep, grey hair. Eden is so much more chill than Zoë was, but she is also fearless and incredibly brave. Oy!

Last but not least, she doesn't use a bath seat anymore. I fill the tub with a few inches of water and let her sit and play. Eden loves it. She splashes and crawls around. It is good baby fun!
