For as long as I have been part of the digital community my handle has been Coffeebean. It was cute. I liked coffee. OK, I was totally and completely addicted to coffee. Anyway, it worked. I didn't want to use my name b/c you never know what kind of crazy could be stalking you. (Not that I consider myself that interesting) thus Coffeebean.
Here's the problem: I have lost my taste for coffee. (gasp!) Seriously. It doesn't sound good to me at all. It could be because I have given up lattes. As much as I like them, they have made me ill the last ten or so times I drank them. It could be because they are essentially all milk, and I don't drink milk, nobody in our home does. I tried lattes with soy and rice milk and it just isn't the same. So now I drink tea. In fact, I am sitting at Tully's Coffee right now enjoying their free wireless and some white tea.
So here I sit. A total fraud. I could change my handle but what would I change it to? Tea Bag? Um no. That sounds like old bag. And did you ever see the episode of Sex and the City when Charlotte is talking about the "Tea bag situation" at her house? How about tea leaves? Um no. Then I would just sound like a crazy psychic. I could just change it to my name, but then nobody would know who the heck I am. And then there is always the crazy stalker issue. Hmmm.

I have some great news to share! I took Zoë to her eye doctor yesterday to check on the progress with her patch. She is doing so well and improving so rapidly that she only has to wear the patch 1/2 the day now. We are all thrilled. Zoë has been such a little trooper, but seriously, wearing a patch sucks. I am going to be so glad when she is done with it. I hoped that she wouldn't have to wear hers as long as I did mine (a year and a half) but I never dreamed that she would be down to 1/2 the day so quickly. So, yeah Zoë!!!
Have you ever had one of those days when you don't feel like doing anything? I had one of those days. It was just gloomy and disgusting so I let Zoë watch an obscene number of cartoons and messed around on my laptop. The weather needs to get nice here. I am totally out of "inside" things to do. Enough rain already. Actually, the weekend was gorgeous. I think that is why the gloomy weather is so horrible now. I know what it could be like outside. Rain rain go away!!!
I did get some scrapping done during nap time and after my little monkey doodle went to bed for the night. (Funny little side note, if you ask Zoë what her name is she says, "I'm Monkey Doodle.") Back to the layouts… I love this picture of Ryan and I together but I have been saving it until inspiration struck. I read the quote "I smile because I am your brother. I laugh because there is nothing you can do about it" somewhere and knew that was perfect for this photo. Credits can be found HERE.
Next up, pictures from Zoë's first field trip. I am not even close to a chronological scrapper. I pretty much scrap whatever I feel like. Today, I thought I would work on some older photos. Credits and journaling can be found HERE.
Lastly, I have some exciting news. I am getting published again. WOO HOO! My "Life is Too Short to Wear White Socks" layout is going to be in the August/September issue of Simple Scrapbooks. I got the email the day before my birthday. Now that was an awesome gift. It never gets old. Every time feels like the first time. Love it.
Get this song out of my head!!! Ever since seeing Blades of Glory last week that song has been stuck in my head. AUGH. I am thinking that I will just buy the song on iTunes and listen to it over and over and over until I am so sick of it that it that my brain will reject the lyrics entirely. One can always hope. The annoying part is that I have never liked the song in the first place.
One especially annoying thing about having that song stuck in my head is that I don't know what Fergie is saying half the time. The lyrics have eluded me until now. That is, they eluded me until last Saturday. I was in the car and Alanis Morissette's version of the song came on. You read right. Alanis Morissette did a cover of Lovely Lady Lumps and it is hilarious.
UPDATE: If you want the mp3, and you do, Goldenfizz has it for you.
I have decided to start getting in shape for my 28th year. Not that I am in bad shape now but I would like to be more tone. I would like to not throw my neck out while I am doing pilates to get my lower half trimmed up for summer. Ouch. I have decided to take a page from Shannon’s book at start exercising while Zoë takes her nap. I mean come on, it only takes twenty minutes. I can do twenty minutes.
Last week I got a catalog from Bliss Spa. I had never heard of them but I am always on the look out for new age defying type products so I took a peek. They have a zillion (OK, maybe only a million) fabulous beauty products but what really got my attention was their MBT shoes. These shoes are not only suppose to give you a rockin’ tush (just from walking) they also activate neglected muscles, improve posture and gait, tone and shape the body, reduce stress on hips, knees, and joints, can help with back, hip, leg, and foot problems. Who doesn’t love that? Just by walking? Count me in. (MBT stands for Masai Barefoot Technology. Here is their official website).
Anyhoo, it was so flipping hot last week that I decided to go with these sandals instead of the shoes. Summer time is coming up after all. I am not saying that they are the most attractive sandals on the planet, but they could be worse. I figure, if they work like they are supposed to, nobody will be looking at my feet anyway. That being said, I may try and talk Kel into getting me the shoes for Mother’s Day.
Now, back to my birthday. My birthday celebration started on Monday. My mom came over to celebrate Easter with us and stayed a couple extra days to watch Zoë so that Kel and I could have a nice adult birthday date. We went to The Melting Pot for dinner. I love that restaurant. It is just so much fun! Who doesn’t like melted cheese? Mmmmm, cheese. It was SO good and I ate so much that we almost went home after dinner instead of going to a movie. Almost.
What movie did I want to see for my birthday? That’s right, Blades of Glory, baby! I love figure skating and this movie just looked fabulously horrible. It did not disappoint. I am not even a Will Ferrel fan, but he was good. One of my favorite parts was all the cameos by famous figure skaters. Good times. I give it two thumbs up. Now if I could just get, "My lumps, my lumps, my lovely lady lumps" out of my head!
Wednesday was the big day and as you know we celebrated at Chuck E. Cheese. It was pretty fun. Total chaos and children gone wild, but fun. Zoë knew that she was going on Wednesday and as soon as she woke up that morning she wanted to get in the car and go. Boy, it must have seemed like 100 hours until dinner time. Here are some pictures of the main event, drawn by Chuck E. Cheese himself.
Last week was a loooong week. I never realized how much I used Photoshop until I didn’t have it. Scrapbooking aside, I use it to edit photos, minimize photos for the web…you name it. Thankfully, Laura posted a comment that saved my sanity. (Thank you Laura!)
She told me about iView Media Pro 3. That is the software she uses to organize all of her digital scrapbooking supplies on her Mac. It absolutely rocks. I downloaded the free trial and happily organized my files while I waited (not so patiently) for Photohop to arrive. I am not saying that I am even close to done categorizing everything, but it gave me something to do other than clean. If you are looking for a software package to organize your goodies I highly recommend iView Media Pro 3. It has gotten rave reviews among the critics and if you buy iView quickly you will get a free upgrade to Expressions Media when it is released. The best part? It works on PC AND Mac.
Dang. I had so much more to tell you but Zoë is waking up from her nap. The nerve of her. I will be back after my super fun birthday dinner at Chuck E. Cheese. Why am I so excited to go to Chuck E. Cheese, you ask? We promised Zoë she could go there once she filled up her potty chart with stickers. That is right. I am making it official. Zoë is potty trained. That is the best birthday present EVER.
If you would like to see some Easter photos and a video clip of Zoë’s Easter egg hunt you can pop on over to our family blog and take a peek. No use posting them in two places, you know?
